Bordeaux: Winery tour of the right and left banks
A week in Bordeaux!
After several years of delays in pulling the trigger on a wine tasting tour in Bordeaux (cursed Pandemic!) we finally did it! My wife and I spent a week in Bordeaux with Michel Thibault and Marla on their Bordeaux tour!
We arrived in Bordeaux via the TGV train from Paris. Michel and Marla met us at the train station and took us to our hotel. We went first to the Cité du Vin museum for a few hours and then dinner at La Tupina.
Day 1
Tastings in Pauillac, lunch in St. Julien, and then dinner and drinks in old Bordeaux
Day 2
On this day, we're in Margaux for two tastings and lunch. Dinner and drinks again in old Bordeaux.
Day 3
Tastings at Smith Haut Lafitte and then lunch at the their restaurant on the property. Then a drive over to the right bank for a tasting followed by dinner at Vignobles Arbo (see my blog post on this!).
Day 4
Fourth day of tastings with lunch at La Terrasse Rouge
Day 5
Vieux Chateau Certan (VCC) and Figeac with lunch at La Table du Catusseau
The highlight of the trip was the visit to VCC. The wine was as close to perfect as I've tried and the visit was just special. Close second was the home cooked dinner at Vignobles Arbo! I felt honored that the family invited us into their home to taste their wine and eat their food. Truly one of the most special weeks of my life!
