The French Laundry - Our 5th Michelin 3 Star

Finally - A chance to dine at The French Laundry!

My wife and I have been wanting to try The French Laundry (TFL) for years and we were finally able to snag a table for four! We invited a dear friend of mine and his wife and off we went to Napa!

The meal was great (but not perfect!). However, in my opinion, the food and the experience were not up to par with the four recent Michelin 3 Star experiences we’ve recently had (Single Thread, Quince, Per Se* and The Inn At Little Washington). The best way to explain why it was disappointing - the food and presentation seemed a bit tired and less creative to me versus the other three-star restaurants we had so thoroughly enjoyed!

We also learned that Thomas Keller was not there that evening. So, we’ve decided we’re going to give TFL another chance (and hopefully he’ll be in the kitchen!) as we both loved his other 3 star in NY: Per Se* as well as Bouchon next door.

Look for a future post on our return to TFL!

*I didn’t do a blog post on our meal at Per Se in Dec 2022 because I was a bit under the weather when we dined - but we both loved the space, experience, staff, view and my wife said the food was “on point!”.
